There are as many fantastic snowmobiling areas around Crested Butte as there are many tour operators ready to show you around. So take your pick, from beginner to seasoned “sled head,” technical trails to wide meadows. Crested Butte snowmobile options are almost limitless.

  • Crested Butte has an almost overwhelming snowmobile trail network, but definitely check out Lake Irwin and Lost Lake.
  • Kebler Pass Road alone is a great ride, but it also accesses big meadow play areas.


  • Beginner and intermediate riders can’t go wrong at Irwin Lake where the scenery alone is worth the trip.
  • Lost Lake is popular with advanced riders seeking single track and off-trail powder stashes.
  • Find big, wide-open play areas on Kebler Pass and Splain Gulch

Cross Country Skiing

The Nordic Center is the hub of recreational activity in the town of Crested Butte. Experience the beauty of the Gunnison Valley with 45 kilometers of track groomed for classic and skate cross-country skiing or guided backcountry tours. Dog Sled ToursĀ 

We offer unforgettable wilderness sled dog adventures for all ages and abilities. You can choose between a short tour that lasts approximately an hour or the Learn to Mush Tour that will give you the chance to run a team of rambunctious, very experienced huskies on a pristine wilderness trail. You can also choose the all day tour which will give you a chance to spend the day with the dogs and view some unforgettable scenery. The tours leave just minutes from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort and transportation to the location can be arranged.

Adventure Park

The new Adventure Park has mini golf, bungee trampolines, a climbing wall and Coke Zero BagJump. The bungee trampolines provide a turbo-charged, gravity-defying ride up to 30 feet in the air, while the Climbing Pinnacle features a 28-foot, 6-route tower with auto-belay. The CokeZero BagJump provides entertainment for all- participants and spectators.

Kids Night Out

Kids have nothing to do? Parents need a night out? Bring your child to Camp CB to join our fun-loving kids instructors for an exciting Kids’ Night Out. An evening at Kids’ Night Out starts with a visit to the Adventure Park, followed by dinner and games at Camp CB. Ages 4-12 Welcome. Cost is $ 65 per child regular season/$75 per child holiday. Kids’ Night Out takes place nightly, advance reservations are required and may be made by calling 970-349-2211.

Snowcat Driving

Now in its fourth season, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, in conjunction with Prinoth, offers the Snowcat Driving Experience. Participants learn the basics of driving snowcats, grooming, pushing snow, and experience one of the best ski resort jobs on a closed course. The school incorporates initial classroom time for safety and operational instruction then students get out on the course to maximize the driving time.

The Snowcat Driving Experience is one-on-one instruction in a fully-functional Prinoth 275 Snow Cat as used in Crested Butte’s grooming operations. Classes will run twice daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. four days a week (Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday) for the rest of the ski season. Group bookings are available by request.

Cost for the program is $199 and includes transportation from the Lodge at Mountaineer Square, some classroom time, and an hour of actual snow cat drive time. Family and friends are welcome to observe from our on-site tent (please mention at time of booking). Drivers must have a valid drivers license and be over 18 years old.
